A refelction on Cibola at the AZ state wrestling tournament

Posted by Edgar Garcia On March - 4 - 2010

I was able to attend the AZ 5A state wrestling tournament a little bit ago to cheer on the school where I won my state championship and coached at for a year with coach Pepe Moreno.

Cibola did a great job as always under Pepe. There were some closes losses, one unfortunate disqualification and one upset against Cibola but for the most part the kids fought hard and did great.

The 103 Rafael Jaimes is a Sophomore and he took 4th at 103. He is the son of the first state champ in Raider historu.

112- The defending state champ from Cibola is a junior and could have been the school’s first 3 timer but he got upset by a Freshman that came out of nowhere and the title. Adam took 3rd place and will be back next year.

119- Eric Arias took 4th

135- Ernesto Prieto wrestled a rematch from last years state finals where he got beat up. This year he took it t0 the and had the take down for the win but just couldnt pull it off at the end. Great match and best wrestling Ernesto ever wrestled. He ended with another Runner up

152 Diego Sanchez took 3rd

Tex wins at NAGA!

Posted by ccobb On March - 4 - 2010

Congrats to Tex Johnson for taking first place in the Gi Division for Men’s Black Belt Light Heavyweight Division at NAGA in Atlanta, GA.

Tex also took home a 3rd place finish in the advanced no-gi division after successfully winning 3 matches and losing in the championship match to Ururahy “Lil Head” Rodrigues from Defkon One.

Question for fans out there:

How does the loser in the championship match end up getting 3rd place?

BIG BEAR

Posted by EFRAIN ESCUDERO On March - 1 - 2010

What’s up everyone, I’m blogging from Big Bear, California, I got up here a few days ago to help out Shannon Gugerty for his upcoming fight on March 28 on Versus vs Clay Guida. I flew in from Vegas where I was doing some stuff for Spike tv and Edgar Garcia picked me up at the airport in San Diego, Edgar came up because Brandon Vera is also doing his camp up here for his fight against Jon Jones on the same card so Edgar came up to help out Brandon its going to be fun watching them spar soon. So far we’ve been in a snow storm it was pretty cool seeing the snow fall and seeing Edgars truck covered in snow of course we never see this stuff in Arizona so we are enjoying it. Training has been going great the 6,800 ft elevation really blows up the lungs and gets you into great shape I could really feel it when i was rolling and wrestling and hitting pads but it feels great getting back in the mix of things im going to continue training until my camp starts which is soon then the extremely hard work will begin. Sometime this week we hope to go snowboarding for the second time, lets just say the first time didn’t go so well in Flagstaff. Heading out for the second training of the day I want to thank my fans and sponsors for there great support and all the mtx fight team and anyone wants get a hold of me contact my manager first please.

NY CITY…

Posted by benson henderson On February - 27 - 2010

So I just got back from my first-ever time to NYC, even though I was only there for about 26 hours or so I had a GREAT experience…the reason I was out there at all was to meet with a company that may be sponsoring me pretty soon…had a photoshoot to do and met with some of their staff and employees as well as got introduced to their head-honchos…the two guys that I spent most of my time with and got to know were some real cool cats who I thought did a superb job of representing their company, good people…anyways long story short I hope to have some good news to tell all you guys here on smoothben.com within the next week or so…say some prayers for me please…

GOD bless…

p.s.
I snuck up on the empire state building, hehe…
and yeah I got to see the WORLD TRADE CENTER SITE (ground zero) talk about an incredibly sobering sight…

Happy Birthday to Me!

However my best gift was a Dora the Explorer birthday card in Spanish from my coach Chance. On Monday I hungout with my friends and family. We drink patron and bud light until 7 am. I ate dinne with my family at apple bees and conitnued the celebration. On Wednesday Efrain came down and we all went to Mexico to party again. Another early morning bed time.

But dont be worried guys It was my B-day. I am back training again already. Stay tuned for updates on Shannon Gugerty’s camp he fights March 27th against Clay Guida. Efrain and I are headed to Big Bear.
