UFC 110 and this weekend

Posted by Chris Camozzi On February - 21 - 2010

Whats up MTX fans. This weekend had some awesome fights (in my opinion). Im glad Silva won and I was on my feet at the end. Me and My girl had a bunch of people over our house and everyone was going nuts after wand dropped Bisping at the end. I was really impressed by Cain as well. You have to love Big Nog, the guy is a legend and its sad seeing him lose but big props to Cain. I couldnt believe that cut cro cop opened up on that perosh guy. I wonder how many stitches he got? Also Chris Lytle pulled off that rolling knee bar. I havent seen a finish by knee bar in a while.

In other news, I still cant chew or train with contact but Im starting my crossfit again Monday morning. Im excited to really start training again. I will be interested to see how much energy I have. Without being able to eat much, I wonder if it will effect me. I will let you know how it goes. I have a follow up doctors appointment Tuesday afternoon so hopefully it goes well and he tells me I can start eating.
I just recently started teaching the youth mma at LA Boxing in Highlands Ranch (Colorado). Its alot of fun getting to teach little kids all about MMA. Im also teaching private lessons to anyone down there so if you live in Colorado and your interested in kickboxing, boxing, BJJ or MMA come down and try it out with me.

Using my spare time well

Posted by Chris Camozzi On February - 17 - 2010

If you have read my previous blogs you know that I am unable to train right now due to injury. This sits pretty hard with me because training everyday is my life. I usually fill my whole day with my training schedule. So lately Ive been trying to find ways to spend my time during the day. Ive had a chance to spend alot more time with my girlfriend Sacha and her daughter Isabela which is nice. Ive also been heading down to our local LA Boxing to help Jermy Malaterre coach some guys that are interested in learning MMA. I never realized how much fun it is to coach people that are truly interested in learning. Ive also taken over the kids classes.

Vitor out!!!! Now what?

Posted by Chris Camozzi On February - 12 - 2010

So i just heard that vitor belfort is out of the title fight against Anderson Silva. This sucks. I was really looking forward to seeing that fight. So with Vitor gone what should they do. I hope they dont pull Anderson off because he usually puts on a good show. What do you guys think they will do?

This Past Week

Posted by Chris Camozzi On February - 10 - 2010

There is quite a bit to write about this past week. First I want to say congrats to Chase on his win at VFC and his new 155lb title. Too bad Danny didnt get to fight on that show as well, MTX would be holding 3 VFC belts if he had. Jermy got fight of the night but lost a tough decision.

Last Saturday the UFC had some good fights. I knew Randy would win that fight but I had no idea Nate would get beat by Sonnen. Ill be honest, I thought there was no chance on Chael winning. Thats the sport of MMA though…anything can happen. Nate was the one that made the fight exciting though. Serra had a great KO. He seems like a cool guy and Ive had the opportunity to meet him a few times and he was always really cool so I always root for him. Watching the fights last Sat was the first time Ive been out in a while. I met up with some friends in Colorado Springs and we hit up a few bars after the fights. All in all it was a fun time.
Wish I could say Ive been training but I havent. I still have about 5 weeks to go until my jaw is healed. It really sucks not being able to chew food. It kind of limits what you can eat. Me being the stuborn person I am I tried to swallow alot of food I probably shouldnt have in Iowa, for example: pasta, bread, tortellini, manocotti, pancakes and even some chicken haha. It was a little rough and doesnt feel so good after but oh well.
Next week Im going to start running and teaching some classes to keep busy. I want to start getting back into shape so when my jaw heals I can hit the ground running.

The Awesome Liquid Diet

Posted by Chris Camozzi On February - 3 - 2010

Whats up everyone. Its been a few weeks since i blogged so i figured i better get on it. I recently broke my jaw sparring and it sucks. I cant train or really do much with mma for atleast 6 weeks. I didnt have to get it wired atleast! The doctor told me I could let it heal as long as I dont chew anything at all for 6 weeks. I told him i have enough self control to handle it. Anything beats having your mouth wired shut. All in all its a crappy situation. I definetly wouldnt wish wish it on anyone. I just keep telling myself…It could be worse.

On another note, Im excited to head to Omaha tomorrow with Chase and Jermy to corner them in the VFC friday night. It shoul be alot of fun because I expect to walk out of there with 2 W’s for MTX and Gumm mma. I will have some video blogs from the show next week. Im definetly going to video jermys first airplane ride. Hes a sheltered kid and has never flown. hahaha

Clinch Work

Posted by Chris Camozzi On January - 13 - 2010

So recently Ive been putting in alot of work on my thai clinch. Watching alot of fights Ive noticed it can really make the difference in a fight. I think alot of people dont work defense and what to do in the clinch. Look at guys like Anderson Silva, he ruins people in the clinch and it looks so effortless. So my goal is to really develop a strong clinch game and start putting it to work in every fight. I will have a video up soon.

I want to say good job to efrain and Jesse Forbes for their performances on the UFN. Though the fights didnt work out in their favor they both fought very well and represented MTX well. These guys will bounce back strong.

Checking in, Another old day in Denver

Posted by Chris Camozzi On January - 6 - 2010

Whats up MTX fans. Its another freezing day in Denver so between training I spend my time inside where its warm. Sometimes I dont know why I live here, I hate the cold more than anything. Anyways… Not much is new on my end. Just sticking to my training schedule and trying to keep up the pace. Im planning on going to the movies this weekend with some friends, Im pretty stoked to see Avatar. It must be good, I mean it is the most expensive movie ever made. I will keep it short since its been a pretty uneventful week. I will have some more training videos up later this week.

Im pumped for the Ultimate Fight Night this week. Congrats to Jesse Forbes for earning his spot back in the UFC. I think he will make a big statement and walk out of there with the win. Also good luck to Efrain, its going to be hard to top his last fight but he always puts on a good show.
